The Cayuga County Office for the Aging, along with the state office, is offering a new transportation program for county residents 60 and older who need rides that can't be provided otherwise.
GoGo Grandparent uses ride share drivers like Uber as well as taxi drivers to provide on-demand and scheduled rides within and outside of the county with a phone call, the office said in a news release. A limited number of rides are available for free for those who register for the program through the office.
Priority is given for out-of-town medical appointments, but other types of rides will be considered. There is no financial eligibility test, and companions can ride along at no additional charge.
The program supplements and does not replace programs like the SCAT Van, the VetVan or Medicaid transport.
